my dad just got his credit card, and he says i can use it to shop online sometimes
so im just wondering can you actually shop online without having a paypal account? and is it safe or unsafe?
and how does paypal work,is it safe?

EBay and other similar sites it is best to use paypal, but say you go to an actual department website that is secure, you can use it without a paypal account.

You can purchase items from any website that accepts the type of credit card your dad has…but be careful of the dangers of using it online. Say you go to Target.com and try to purchase something. You’ll notice in the far right hand side of the address bar in the browser you’re using that there’s a blue square with a lock in it and the address bar will have https:// instead of just http://. That means they have a securely encrytped site. Does that mean no one can hack it? No, but it makes it considerably harder. Just remember only to use the card on sites from stores you trust. You can have your card info stolen just as easy from visiting a "brick & mortar" store as when you are shopping online.

Paypal has been safe for the 4 years I’ve used it. I do prefer to route things through it just to be safer in some cases – especially if it’s an online business I’ve not ordered anything from before. If you want to sign up for Paypal, register for an account on their site http://www.paypal.com. It will walk you through the steps you need to take for your account to be set up and verified. They may ask you to link a bank account to it, which you may or may not be comfortable with. I opened one at a totally separate institution from my regular accounts just to minimize the damage should anyone get access to that information online.
