How can i make a simple sales forecast without historical data.

well, pick a busy place. Roughly look around the area to see how other shops are coping. If it is good then you should be able to get a rough estimation. If it is bad.. well…

How should you respond to sales clerks that ignore you while you are trying to shop?

March 9, 2010 - 11:12 am 9 Comments

I have been shopping for jewelry and when I was standing in front of the counter there were 2 slaespersons at the desk. They both saw me come up to the counter for assistance and did not come to find out what or if I wanted anything, finally I asked if they were open and the sales person replied to me "I’ll be there in a moment. Because I am planning to spend a couple of hundred dollars I feel that better service should be given.

That sucks, apparently they didn’t want to make any kind of commission.

Besides door hangars and direct mail how do i increase residential sales for a sandwich shop?

March 5, 2010 - 1:13 pm 3 Comments

It is a Quiznos…Past management did a horrible job and we lost alot of customers and add on a poor economy, things are really bad. There was also another quiznos opened down the street and in my block radius there is a subway and togos. The location is poor as well and is hard to be seen from the street. The store has been open for 2 years and STILL alot people do not know we exist. Any help is appreciated.

Print coupons on the back of grocery receipts or in entertainment books. Figure out why you are a better choice than the other sandwich shops and advertise that.

Smoke Shop Sales Experience?

February 25, 2010 - 9:22 am 1 Comment

Has anyone here ever worked at a smoke shop? What’s it like? How much sales experience is needed? What advice would you give to someone who really wants to work at one?

Want to work in a smoke shop? Here’s what you need to know:
1. If anyone mentions marijuana (or any version of same), show them the door. You do not deal with criminals.
2. You don’t sell bongs and you never have. You sell water pipes, glass pipes, art glass, bubblers and hookahs for legal purposes ONLY.
3. Do not sell to anyone under 18, period. No ID, no purchase.

That’s it. It’s a simple job and you’ll learn about various manufacturers (ROOR, etc.) on the job.

are you allowed to change the prices on a shop sales floor in the presence of customers?

February 23, 2010 - 9:02 am 10 Comments

Yes you are and if the price changes between the time the customer picked it up and the time they check out they have to pay the new price. If they don’t like it they can shop somewhere else.

With that said, its generally a bad move to piss of your customers so it is customarily done by the overnight shift.

How many times have you mistaken a fellow customer in a shop for a sales assistant?

February 21, 2010 - 10:33 am 22 Comments

…and actually asked them a question relating to a product and been embarrassed for it :)
I forgot vice versa lol…thanks for your answers :)
Thanks for some really interesting answers everyone :)

I got mistaken for one a few months ago. I was early for a job interview, at my local council offices, so i was dressed quiet smart, so i thought i would pass the time by looking in a few clothes shop. I was in Next where a man came up and asked me if i had a shirt in his size, his partner laughed her head off when i said i didn’t work here. I think i was more embarrassed than him.
